Scottish Medieval Rock!

Saor Patrol: a 2014 review

charliecolor2014 proved to be a phenomenal year for the band. Our touring took us from one of the world’s most popular music showcases in the US to a return trip to the world’s largest outdoor metal music festival in Germany. That’s right, our performances at South by Southwest last March in Austin, Texas received wide acclaim, including some very popular bloggers that listed us in the top 20 best groups of the festival. Our trip back to Wacken was another mind blower last summer. The large crowds were sensational and welcomed us back with lots of noise!

We were especially honored to have been chosen to perform both days at Bannockburn Live on our home turf in Scotland last June. This was a very special weekend for Scotland and we were so proud to be a part. The fact that we were just as involved in the historic re-enactment of this legendary battle was even more of an honor. Clanranald Trust and Saor Patrol were ON that weekend!

We enjoyed returning to MPS in Germany and performing for our “family” there throughout the year. Our time spent in Italy was also special as we worked with old friends and met many new ones. Gigs in England, Norway, Netherlands were all tops. We visited the southeast of the US for a mini-tour that laid the groundwork for future shows and even appeared on New York City television before a photo shoot on the Brooklyn Bridge.

We released several recordings, both live and studio that have been gaining a lot of attention along with a new DVD about the band. Great footage and music in there. Of course one of our biggest stories of the year was adding Dan Dean to the band lineup. Dan has proven to be a true pro since joining the band and brings some incredible talent that will add to the future success of the group. Be sure and check out his bio, he’s the real deal.
